Gingrich calls Detroit a disaster, draws ire Former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich drew strong criticism from Detroit city leaders and school officials Monday after calling the city a “disaster” in a national network TV interview on Sunday.
Gingrich blasted the city of Detroit, Detroit Public Schools, the United Auto Workers and Michigan’s unemployment rate during an interview on Fox News Sunday in which he talked about how he would transform Washington.
A spokesman for Gingrich, an undeclared Republican presidential candidate who has been ramping up his public appearances, singled out Detroit and its schools because they’re the “best worst-case example” of bureaucracy and “a union structure that doesn’t work.”“We should basically, fundamentally replace the Detroit school system with a series of experiments to see if they’ll work,” Gingrich said in the interview.
“Detroit is routinely pointed out as one of the worst public school systems in the entire country,” Tyler said. “It provides the best example of why we need transformational change in bureaucratic systems that don’t work.”

Womack and other Detroit Public Schools’ officials vigorously disputed Gingrich’s comments about the school system’s graduation rate, which he said was 22 percent, a statistic recently released by Education Week magazine. According to the Michigan Department of Education, Detroit Public Schools has a graduation rate of 67.2 percent, though a 2005 Detroit News analysis put that number at 48 percent. (No Matter how you cut it any one of those numbers is utterly shameful.)
Monica Conyers, the council’s president pro tem, acknowledged that Detroit Public Schools’ graduation rate is too low, but she doubted Gingrich knows much about the true graduation rate in the school system or the city’s progress. (Day all bee lyin’ en sheeit…ALL OF EM)
“Detroit is on an upswing,” she said. “I would invite Newt Gingrich to come here.” Conyers said she would give Gingrich a personal tour of the city. (Detroit is on an upswing? Detroit’s been on an upswing for the last 40 years…slowest goddamn swing I’ve ever seen)

Police are questioning witnesses trying to determine who shot and killed a 38-year-old mother at a Taylor apartment complex Monday night. FOX 2’s Lourdes Duarte has more on the story, including one witness account.
Now I have no proof that these were niggers. However, the eyewitness does say that they were chasing “a white guy” he probably wouldn’t have mentioned the race if both of the parties were white. 5 infants die while sleeping unsafely Baby needs own hazard-free crib, parents are warned
A surge of deaths resulting from babies sleeping in their parents’ beds or from unsafe objects in their cribs in Wayne County is prompting health officials to plead with parents to put their infants in a safe sleeping environment.
Five infants, ranging in age from 27 days to 3 months, died Monday and Tuesday from unsafe sleeping practices, Dr. Carl Schmidt, the Wayne County medical examiner, said Wednesday.
That brings the total this year to 30 — compared with 50 for all of 2006 and 44 in 2005. About two-thirds of the deaths this year occurred in Detroit, but the number of such fatalities in the county’s suburbs also increased.
Health care providers warn new parents and parents-to-be about the importance of cribs that meet safety standards and keeping objects like stuffed animals out of them, and of the dangers of putting the baby to sleep in the parents’ bed.
But such warnings often conflict with family traditions — and poverty, which can result in parents using a sofa cushion or the adult bed as the place where their baby sleeps, officials said. (LOL…apparently everything can be blamed on poverty. If you really have no money to afford a crib and you’re too stupid to realize that you can make a crib for free out of a cardboard box…you really should just be dead.)
To help combat the poverty factor, the county offers 200 free portable cribs to parents identified by neonatal and maternity staff as needing them. (How can you continue to blame these problems on poverty when you do things like GIVE OUT FREE FUCKING CRIBS! Wouldn’t you have to come up with another answer as to why these niggers continue to kill their kids like this? Maybe it’s because THEY HAVE AN IQ THAT’S LOWER THAN A FUCKING GORILLA!)

“Those familiar with Detroit’s Emergency Medical Service say Reginald Harris’ death was inevitable. The city used to have 24 ambulances available for calls, EMS officials said Wednesday. These days, there are often just 15 ambulances responding to 911 calls for a city of more than 886,600 people.”

WASHINGTON — Michigan’s troubled economy contributed to a 36 percent jump in the number of children living in poverty between 2000 and 2005, as an additional 116,000 children slipped below the poverty line.
More than 479,000 of Michigan’s 2.5 million children were living in poverty in 2005, up from about 363,000 in 2000, the annual Kids Count report released today indicates. The survey tracks child well-being nationally.
The report shows that 35 percent of Michigan’s children lived in households where parents didn’t have full-time, permanent jobs in 2005. Also, about one-third of children were living in single-parent households.
America Rocks! You see what happens to a state when their main Industry fails to sustain the economy. The United States is currently a service economy and with 30 million illegal mexicans to take those jobs, Michigan’s problems will soon be the country’s.
