Stephen Duane Keels faces charges that include assault with intent to do great bodily harm
The boy suffered burns to his neck, calves and thighs. The mom told police her boyfriend Keels, who had been with the child, said the boy picked up a lighter and burned himself. Investigators determined the claims not to be true. Keels did not comply to an agreement to turn himself into police this week. The child has since been removed from the home.

Three people were discovered tied up and shot execution style in a house in Detroit last night in the area of Mansfield and Whitlock. Detroit police sources tell FOX 2 that two of the three were children. Both were killed by their gunshot wounds. The third person is an adult, who was transported to a hospital. Police are looking for a tan Ford Taurus. The car was seen driving away from the scene by a black female called Andrea, along with two other men.

The 20-year-old Southfield man was arrested Friday, 10 weeks after the body of Laura Dickinson was found Dec. 15, 2006, the university said in a statement.
“The suspect was charged with homicide, home invasion, two counts of criminal sexual conduct and larceny,” said Jim Vick, Eastern Michigan’s vice president for student affairs.
The university was informing students and their families about the arrest. On-campus counseling will be made available for students, staff and members of the community, Vick said.

5-month-old scalded during bath
Detroit Police said a 5-month-old boy suffering from severe burns is in critical condition at Children’s Hospital in Detroit after he was scalded by hot water on Thursday evening.
Detroit Police Officer Leon Rahmaan said the boy was being given a bath underneath a showerhead by his 27-year-old father at a residence in the 10400 block of Joy Road around 9 p.m.
Rahmaan said the father told police that he left the baby for a short time during the bath and that when he returned, the child had burns on his back and head.
Imagine a retard caring for a child…

Detroit Man Draws 30-Year Prison Term
U.S. District Judge Lawrence P. Zatkoff sentenced James Edgar Coleman, 36, to 365 months in federal prison. The sentence was the maximum possible penalty for Coleman, who has previous convictions for drug trafficking.
Coleman, of Detroit, admitted he sold the drug cocktail with fentanyl that last year killed Lauren Jolly, 17, and Daniel McElmurry, 30.
Coleman’s plea to two counts of delivering a controlled substance resulting in death was the first related to fentanyl-laced heroin and cocaine that killed more than 100 people in metropolitan Detroit in 2005 and 2006, U.S. Attorney Stephen Murphy said.
“He was not the person who mixed the drugs,” Harris said. “Mr. Coleman would not know fentanyl right now if he saw it.”
