DETROIT — The owner of a Detroit medical facility, which has been broken into six times in the past five weeks, has threatened to leave the city if police do not amp up their investigation efforts.
Dr. Vasan Deshikachar wrote a letter to Detroit Police Chief Ella Bully-Cummings and demanded swift action to investigate and arrest the thieves who broke into the Grand River Medical Center on Grand River Avenue.
Deshikachar said thieves have gone to great lengths to break in and have entered through the roof, glass block windows and the front door. The facility was robbed twice on May 29 and most recently on Friday.
The thieves mostly target computers and office equipment, according to Deshikachar.
Deshikachar said he has strong emotional attachments to the community and does not want to leave.
However, “If similar incidents occur, then we will be left with no option to re-locate our business out of the city,” he said in a letter to Bully-Cummings.
Bully-Cummings has not yet responded to the letter.

8-foot statue of Jesus stolen off cross at Detroit church
DETROIT (AP) — Thieves seeking copper to sell as scrap may be to blame for stealing an 8-foot statue of Jesus Christ that was hanging on a cross outside a Detroit church.
The Rev. Barry Randolph said Wednesday that a parishioner recently noticed the statue was missing from the side of Church of the Messiah on the city’s east side.
Randolph says the statue is a green color and looks as if it is made of copper, but actually was made from plaster. WJBK-TV reports the church is asking for the public’s help in getting the statue back.
He says a small piece of the statue was found near the church.

Here’s what it fucking looks like now just a couple days later, the satellite dish survived. One of the regular commenters on this blog lives down the street from this house. He said that the firefighters showed up 2 different times the night this house burned down. Apparently the first attempt was a dud so they had to come back and try again. Needless to say they succeeded the second time.

DETROIT — A Detroit public school had to be closed today after school officials walked in this morning and found the school had been vandalized.
Custodians have spent the day cleaning Phoenix Multicultural Academy, a K-8 school in Southwest Detroit. The school is expected to reopen for class Tuesday, said district spokesman Steve Wasko.
The damage is unknown, but the vandalism was extensive, Wasko said. Glass was broken inside the school, items were pulled from shelves, a metal detector was knocked over, graffiti covered some areas and the cafeteria was sprayed by a fire extinguisher. The areas hit hardest were the main office, cafeteria, gymnasium and 12 classrooms, he said.
This story reminds me of the nig that broke into Rosa Parks house, beat her up and robbed her. When asked if he knew who the woman was that he was victimizing, he had no idea. NAACP seeks help in hunt for thief

DETROIT – The Detroit Branch NAACP went public Tuesday with a plea for community help to identify the person who burglarized the civil rights group’s new headquarters last month.
A man broke into the facility Dec. 16, stole several computers and caused several thousand dollars in structural damage to the building on Second Avenue, NAACP officials said. The group is offering an unspecified reward for information leading to an arrest.
“It’s unfortunate that it happened to us. We don’t want for it to happen to anyone else,” said LaToya Henry, a spokesperson for the Detroit Branch NAACP.
After the burglary, the branch added more lighting and cameras and upgraded the security system. The branch moved into the new facility last fall from its offices on West Grand Boulevard.
“We want to make sure that everyone who comes into our office knows that we are still open for business and to get the message out that we want him captured for everyone to feel safe,” Henry said. “We just want our members, visitors and community members to know you can still be safe (in the branch office).”
No surprise here, just the standard typical Detroit bullshit….stores can’t stay in business because they keep getting looted. Detroit sure is a “thriving metropolis”…I can’t imagine what’s holding it back.
