One person refuses to work there anymore. Car after car has been broken into at a local hall of justice. While justice may be dolled out inside, those FOX 2’s Brad Edwards spoke with say apathy rules the roost outside.
Police Nab 6 Carjacking Suspects After Car, Foot ChasePolice have six people in custody after a carjacking and chase that started in Dearborn and ended in Detroit.

Dearborn police said the suspects assaulted a driver in Dearborn on Walnut Street before taking off in the vehicle.
Police said the victim did not sustain any serious injuries but a condition could not be confirmed.
According to police, the vehicle was spotted going northbound on the Southfield Freeway a short time later.
After a short car chase, the six people ditched the car and ran away, scattering in the area of Mansfield Street and McNichols Road in Detroit.
Families in the area were surprised by the incident.
“I heard some yelling outside. I said, ‘Is somebody out there arguing?’” said Trequan Tidwell, who was in his kitchen at the time. “I came outside and the police were like, ‘Get on the ground.’ They frisk me down and all that.”
Police said Tidwell, unknowingly, had walked into the end of the police foot chase involving officers from Detroit, Dearborn and Michigan State Police troopers.
Dearborn police said the six people, all teenagers, were running through back yards and jumping fences.
Another neighbor, identified only as Theron, said he saw the teens.
Theron added, “Before I could make it to the side door, police ran up and put the gun to me and my son-in-law, and asked us who we were.”
According to police, the six people taken into custody were identified only as three boys and three girls.
“Detroit was right there with us, and the state police and our undercover guys,” said Lt. Mark Tobias of the Dearborn Police Department. “It was a good team effort.”
WARREN, Mich. — Police said 20 to 30 men who brutally attacked and robbed a motorist Saturday night may also be responsible for several other violent crimes that took place the same day.
Four people were taken into custody for questioning after a motorist was beaten unconscious.
Police said the incident took place when Andy Kauffman, 29, and his wife, Angelina, were driving on North River Road when more than two dozen men wearing ball caps and baggy shorts spread out across the street and blocked traffic.
Kauffman tried to drive past them and someone threw a brick in his window. Kauffman stopped his car and got out to see what happened.
“At that point at least 12 of the subjects jumped on him, beating and kicking him several times to the point where he was unconscious,” Macomb County Sheriff Mark Hackel said. “A second man then got out of the car and also was attacked, but not nearly as bad as the first individual.”
A short time later, police were called to a gas station nearby for a fight.
A man who was using the pay phone was beaten. He was not seriously injured, police said.
Police said there were several incidents within a few hours and they fear the same group of attackers was involved.
A woman doing some shopping at a beauty supply store is stunned when a thief swipes her keys and takes of in her new SUV. FOX 2’s Ron Savage says what’s even more surprising about this case is the young age of the thief.
“I don’t understand why would you want to steal a Hummer with Russ Parr’s big face plastered on the side of the vehicle,” said an angry 102.7 DJ, Suga Rae. (No shit…who would want a car with a nigger painted on the side of it?)
The Hummer was recovered a few hours later on Canfield and Bewick streets. Police said there was only slight damage to the vehicle.
Police said the promotions manager was carjacked while filling up at the Shell gas station on Jefferson Avenue and Chene Street.
“Four guys pulled up and at gunpoint they took our hummer,” said Ms. Smiley with the 102.7 promotions department.
No one was injured during the carjacking.
Police said they do not have any information on whether arrests in the case were made.

DETROIT — A 17-year-old girl is in critical condition after being shot Thursday afternoon in an alleyway altercation near Denby High School, police said.
Witnesses told police that an argument among a gathering of about 50 people took place sometime after 4 p.m. in an alley near Laing and Morang, on the city’s east side, when a male pulled out a gun and shot the girl in the stomach.
The girl was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. Police could not confirm whether she or others in the fracas were students at Denby.
Police have arrested two boys, 17 and 14 years of age, and recovered a handgun.
DETROIT — Detroit police are searching for at least four armed men in connection with a string of violent carjackings across Detroit.
Detroit police spokesman James Tate said the men may be responsible for at least five carjackings.
The latest carjacking occurred Wednesday night on Detroit’s northwest side when the men, armed with shotguns, stole a man’s car and locked him in the trunk, police said.
Tate said that while the victim was in the trunk, he heard the men carjack another person.
The men eventually let the victim go, police said.
The serial carjackers are targeting victims entering and exiting their driveways late at night, police said.
Torjuan of Detroit was carjacked as he pulled into his driveway around 2:30 a.m.
Torjuan told Local 4 the carjackers, holding AK-47’s, stormed his vehicle, opened his doors and demanded all of his money. He said after he gave them the money, they took his wallet as well.
“I was just scared for my life,” said Torjuan. The carjackers told him to leave the keys in his car and took off, he said.
Torjuan was able to run into his home and call the police.
Police later recovered Torjuan’s damaged vehicle.

FLINT - The Flint Police Department is opening an investigation to determine if a rape case reported at Hurley Medical Center was mishandled.
The Detroit Free Press reported today that a 13-year-old Flint girl told staff at Flint’s Hurley Medical Center she was gang raped by six men Saturday in Detroit. But when hospital staff called Detroit Police to report the crime, they were told to call Flint police, Dr. Manya Newton of Hurley told the Free Press.
According to the newspaper report, Flint police Sgt. Brett Bell said the case would have to be handled by Detroit officers because the crime happened in their jurisdiction.
But acting Flint police Chief Gary S. Hagler told The Flint Journal today that there is no officer named Brett Bell at his department and he is not sure what happened on Saturday.
Hagler said his officers would have been able to go the hospital to retain evidence and get preliminary information on the crime for the Detroit police.
He plans on investigating the incident to see if there was a breakdown in communication or if the case was handled improperly.
“The goal is to aid victims of crime,” he said. “We want to make sure no one falls through the cracks.”
According to the Free Press, the girl came to Hurley about 9 p.m. Saturday with her mother. She told Newton she had met a man on the Internet and traveled to Detroit to meet him. The girl said the man dropped her off at a house where six men raped her at gunpoint.
She was able to eventually leave the house and call her mother, who picked her up and took her to Hurley, the newspaper reported.
The Free Press reported that Newton complained to the hospital director about the situation and early Sunday morning two state police troopers came and picked up the rape kit.

A 28-year-old Pontiac man runs from Detroit Police for no reason. In the process, he caused an accident and then was shot by officers. The situation occurred near Six Mile and Davison on the city’s east side. FOX 2’s Andrea Isom explains how the suspect made himself a target.

Detroit man, 71, missing; last seen being led into truck

DETROIT — Police are investigating a missing senior citizen taken from his home at 8:50 a.m. Monday. According to police, Lewis Barber, 71, was last seen leaving his home in the 16000 block of Lenore with a man known as “Blue.“(blue gums maybe?) Police said the suspect forced Barber out of his home and into his vehicle, a Red Ford Ranger, and drove away. Barber has not had any contact with his family. Relatives say the elderly man has never gone missing before. Police say the suspect has forced Barber to go to a bank to withdrawn money in the past. The suspect is described as a black male, 25 years old and 6 feet tall.
Two Detroit teenagers, being charged as adults in the carjacking this week of two Canadian women in their 60s in Grosse Pointe, pleaded not guilty to multiple charges in Grosse Pointe Municipal Court on Friday.
Lamont Ward, 16, and Eugene Woodall Jr., 14, face sentences of life in prison for one count each of carjacking, if convicted. Ward also faces life sentences with two counts of assault with intent to murder.
Police said the pair stole the keys for a 1999 white Mustang convertible as its owner was plugging a parking meter on Mack Avenue near Washington on Monday.
Nancy Quinn, 63, and Mary Susan Eijsenck, 64, both of Ontario, were slightly injured as the carjackers drove off in the car, police said.
The teenagers, who are accused of hitting one woman and dragging another at a high rate of speed, later were arrested in Detroit after a widespread hunt by officers from Grosse Pointe and Detroit.
“The 14-year-old defendant has been in the juvenile system before, and it is clear that he has not benefited from what that system has to offer,” Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said in a statement.
EASTPOINTE, Mich. — A Detroit man who should have bitten off more than he could chew was sentenced Wednesday to 10 to 90 months in prison in a 2004 car theft.
Norman O. Wheeler, 40, pleaded guilty April 2 to the theft after DNA taken from an uneaten cinnamon bun connected him to the Dec. 11, 2004 crime. Wheeler already was serving time for another auto theft when authorities made the match.
According to police, a witness said she saw a man arrive in one car at a drug store parking lot, break out the windows of a second car and drive off.
The responding officer found a partially eaten pastry in the car and sent it to the Michigan State Police crime laboratory. Police matched the DNA to Wheeler, who as a convict, already had a DNA sample on file in a state database.
