‘Lots of targets,’ source in federal probe says; sludge deal company cooperating with FBI
The chief of staff for Detroit City Council President Ken Cockrel Jr. resigned last week after being caught on videotape taking cash amid a widening federal investigation into public corruption in Detroit, the Free Press has learned.
John Clark, who worked for Cockrel for eight years, quit his job Wednesday after federal agents showed Cockrel a videotape of Clark accepting money earlier this year, two sources told the Free Press. One of the sources said Clark received $2,000 on two occasions.

“There are lots of targets” in the investigation, one source said Saturday.
The Free Press first reported Friday night on freep.com that FBI agents had launched a probe in which they have obtained wiretaps and quizzed several people, including asking questions about Councilwoman Monica Conyers. She has not returned calls seeking comment.
Conyers was among the five members who approved the Synagro deal. The others were Sheila Cockrel, Martha Reeves, Barbara-Rose Collins and Alberta Tinsley-Talabi.
Ken Cockrel Jr., Kwame Kenyatta, Brenda Jones and JoAnn Watson voted against the contract.

Your writing skills in your first, and what I can safely assume to be your only language are only slightly better than Allain’s skills in his second (or maybe even third, fourth, etc.) language. Or maybe I was just sick that day in school when the teacher taught the rest of the students that proper written English does not require usage of apostrophes or capitalization?
In general, I do think people should take the time to write comments on a website using the correct grammar and spelling of the website the language was written in. With so many online tools, dictionaries etc. for learning English (French, Spanish, whatever) grammar and spelling there is really no excuse for not being able to post something intelligible. However it is a two-way street and one would expect native speakers of a language to provide a much better example for non-native speakers of the language.

Again, I’m not preaching to you, or any other reader, participant, or content provider on this website. Every Bible believing Christian, who might use a Scripture based reference in their comments, isn’t preaching. My vocation is management, not the ministry. As for who “caused” Detroit to be diminished, well, that looks like a team effort. White flight, from ignorance and fear of the unknown; other forms of abandonment; poverty; poor leadership; poor choices born of frustration and anger; and yes, absolutely reprehensible and inexcusable conduct on the part of some of the residents, were all elements that contributed to the inner-city circumstances that exist today.
For the record, after second grade, I attended Catholic and private schools (including a school for gifted students in Bloomfield Hills). So, I never had the experience of getting robbed of my lunch money.
Again, no race is all good. No race is all bad. I live and work in diverse areas. There’s no double standard in that. I’m grateful that I feel “right at home” with good-hearted people, from all types of backgrounds and cultures. I’m grateful that I know a lot of whites that are wonderful, caring, loving, fun people.

There’s nothing idiotic about Christianity. However, people either comprehend the concepts explained in
Scripture, or they don’t. Religion isn’t owned by anyone, including
“massa”. My list of elements that contributed to Detroit’s current conditions included “white flight”. The list was inclusive of many other elements, including the conduct and behavior of some residents. The list was in no particular order.
Addressing issues isn’t finding “blame”. That’s counter productive. We can fix “blame”… or we can fix problems.
My parents and grandparents are from the south. They experienced tough conditions, back in an era when discrimination and segregation was legal. Nevertheless, I was raised not to see people as a “color”. I was raised to see people as people; each individual, for who and what they are. Growing up, on the west side of Detroit, I had wonderful experiences, interacting with people of different races, cultures and faiths. My life is much richer for the experiences I’ve had, and continue to have to this day.
I’m grateful that I have a family that could past race as a barrier, so that I didn’t grow up with hate and bitterness in my heart.

You are supposed to be smartgal after all ( and camcam too). So is their anyway to get blacks to behave themselves? i’m not so sure myself. Can we identify the problems of the black race? Blacks seem to think the only problem they have is whites. I am a big believer and have said so many times on this site that black peoples biggest problem is illegitamacy. Let’s be blunt for brevity. Your people breed like rabbits and the end result is teenage niggers running wild in the street. Your race never seems to address illegitamacy and it needs to start if it is ever going to make something of itself. Let’s talk about the word nigger. Blacks don’t like to be called that by whites but unfortunately it seems about the only way for blacks to understand emotionally what is wrong with them and if all blacks are not niggers then unfortunately the niggers dominate your culture anyway. Let’s be clear too as far as I am concerned black culture is a failed culture. It may be the product of many bad breaks that blacks received but it is a backward way of doing things and looking at the world to. Stupidity is prized over education, illigitamacy runs rampant (again #1 problem in your community as far as I am concerned), and blacks routinely expect handouts such as welfare and affirmative action. Those three things are what I feel strongly about. Others feel blacks are inherently stupid and violent and you could argue causes and conditions I suppose but for practical purposes they are 100% right. So again smart gal and cam cam what is to be done with your people? Are even willing to admit your people are/have a problem? I am willing to let bygones be bygones and agree to disagree. Blacks and whites could go their seperate ways if they think that is best. I would hope that if that were to happen (yeah right) and your people continue to fester and rot that you would be kind enough to die with some dignity and not beg us to save you like what is about to happen in Zimbabwe in the coming months and years. I am not so naive as to think that the blacks will ever try to leave the white society and culture of the United States ( and god help you if it really isn’t a white society and culture, god help us all fro that matter). This why I am an advocate for some form of reenslavement. When I say reenslavement I mean it in the kindest gentlest manner possible. I have no personal axes to grind as far as master-servant relationships go but the way I see it your people have a slave mentality anyway and it would be in everyone’s best interest including your own if your people were returned to some form of bondage. What that bondage might entail is the subject for another day but I feel that if blacks are still allowed to spin da rims and eat some watermelon that they may find such an arrangement both agreeable and better for america as a whole. In the meantime remember I guess that calling a black a nigger is telling a black he is a failure. Your race is majority nigger and DetroitisCrap.com is doing it’s very best to flesh out a workable solution to the nigger problem in this country.

The website content of Detroitiscrap does nothing to talk about constructive solutions; most of the content is about blame, hate, insults and bitterness. A few posters discuss things intelligently, regarding potential solutions.
A black person could cull the news of each day, and copy and paste onto a website only the stories that make whites look bad. But, to do so would be just as pointless and contrived as what Detroitiscrap does.
Not all blacks are out burning and destroying the city. Many residents are law-abiding, tax paying citizens. Not all whites live in homes with wheels on them, on the outskirts of town. We really have to get beyond silly, useless stereotypes.
As a black female, I have no personal experience with having children out of wedlock, receiving welfare or affirmative action, committing criminal behavior, etc., nor does anyone in my immediate family.
There is much good and some bad in every race, creed and culture. At any given time, we can all fall short of what we can be, and we can all strive to be better.
It takes courage to first look inward, and then seek ways that people can be better, together. Any coward can hide behind a computer, paint with a broad brush, and anonymously say mean and nasty things about a group of people.
And now, back to enjoying the remainder of my holiday weekend, independent of ignorance and hate. The work week will be here before ya’ know it!

Just a note to “smart”gal. You weren’t a recipient of affirmative action? Did you begin college after 2004? Or if you did start college before 2004, did you NOT check the “African American” box on the application? If you can HONESTLY say yes to either of those questions, then kudos. If, however, you started college prior to 2004, I would lay money that you did indeed mark the “African American” box on the application. And there you have it, you benefited from affirmative action. I couldn’t afford college. At least, not yet. I’m hoping to go soon. Thus far, my God-given intelligence, self-motivation, and strong work ethic have garnered me opportunities and promotions. It’s actually a little more gratifying knowing that I’ve accomplished things without any artificial/superficial “validations”.
I currently work as a manager in a white owned company. Trust me, there have been absolutely no “special considerations” in that environment. I’ve worked hard, taken on tough tasks, helped the company be successful, sacrificed some evenings and weekends, and made some progress in my career. More accomplishments await me. Life in America; it can be what one is willing to make of it.
College is nice, but it is certainly not the only determining factor for success. Ask Bill Gates, and many other self-made millionaires/billionaires.
I’ve learned a lot on my own, I plan to be a millionaire, and eventually, as soon as I have the tuition money, I’ll pick-up a few degrees along the way. Why not?

Also from god fearing churches were they never learned the simplest things like morality and social responsibillity. Why is that overwhelmingly the problem with your people? What will it take for your people to become functioning members of society.
We have many institutions in this country that point the problems of the white race, but none that point out the problems of your race. Ever try and get a description of a black rapist or murderer on the evening news. If he is white, gauranteed that will be in the description. Ever see when the criminal is black? I will never direspect a woman, black or white. I will stand behind my views even if by myself and attacted by several coloreds.(the usual black fair fight). I understand that I represent my family name and my community. No matter where I go in this world, I know what it means to “represent”. It isn’t to dress me in bling. Its who I am that is something no one can take away from me. My education, being a good person, a respectable member of what once used to be a civilized society. I am even resposible for the conduct of my nephews 3000 miles away. Thats what it means to be a civilized member of society. It doesn’t mean making a nigger pile for the door when people are trying to get on an escalator. It doesn’t taking up three seats on rapid transit to be bad and leaving a pregnant or old handicapped woman stand. It doens’t mean blasting your car ghetto cruiser blasting and inflicting your crap on everyone in a community. It means to get involve in fixing your community even if you don’t live there. what is our next step? Should we start tearing homes down in Franklin and Bloomfield Hills in a few years because black drug dealers have moved or blacks are too lazy to maintain their home?

No, if you actually read my posts, completely, then you would see that the accountability/responsibility factor isn’t being ignored. As I’ve stated, repeatedly, it is up to each individual to be personally responsible for their own actions, their homes, their neighborhoods, their accomplishments, etc..
Life in America can be what one is willing to make of it. Trust me, if I don’t figure out a way to start a business, and make a million dollars, I won’t think it’s a white person’s fault. It will be my fault.
Do I have the solutions for every ill that plagues every community in Detroit? No. I guarantee that no poster or administrator on this website has every solution for every problem/issue that goes on with white people or in white communities… nor would they be expected to.
Both sets of my grandparents were married for over 50 years; they were married until separated by death. My parents are married, and were married for several years before having a child. Morals, ethics, family values, etc. are not determined by race or politics.

(Re-read my post of 07/05/08 @ 5:29 p.m. for accuracy.) Opposing views are fine. It’s the intelligence of the dialogue that’s important. Discussions aren’t elevated by name-calling or derogatory terms, whether from a black person or a white person. So, no, I’m not a racist. I’m grateful that I have a family that raised me to see people as individuals, not a color. I’m grateful that race is no barrier in terms of who I’m friends with; there are several whites that I share close friendships with. They’re great people. Just like my black friends.

There are probably a lot of posters on this website that are guilty of the same level of laziness, irresponsibility and lack of ambition that they so readily decry. Whining and complaining is easy. In the environment I work in, I probably work twice as hard for about half as much recognition as others receive. But, sometimes that’s the way it is when you work for someone else. I do what I have to do to earn a living, pay bills and support myself.

no honey, I eill try and go slower. It’t not about class. Its about social responsibility. How I interact with other people has nothing to do with race and has everything to do with the black mentality. It would be great if we all could stay in our own world and never have any responsibility for the action of my people. As you so wisely pointed out if you did judge people on what you see on well objective shows like Dateline, most of the predators you will see on that show are white. Why? because of lawsuits, the mainstream media can never show black criminals and I guess there isn’t that many hours in a day to document that. That is why there is sites like this. Because of reversed discrimination and biased news reporting. Somewhere down the line you will need to look at your race and what it has done to this country. To not we will just get more Detroits in this country, but then again no one is responsible for that, that would be a real touch of class and humanity

Just like I had mentioned on another blog.. I saw a billboard warning against copper thieves the other day. It showed 4 arms hanging out of a jailcell and they were all white.. now tell me honestly, what do you think the race is of most copper thieves? Then you turn around and you see a McDonalds commercial with a well dressed, well spoken uncle Tom of a black guy eating a quarter pounder in his well kept suburban home with his happy wife and 2 children. This is a VERY rare case of how it really is out there. But we don’t want to hurt the feelings of the blacks out there right? Nobody wants a class action lawsuits or Al Sharpton knocking on their doors now do they? It’s amazing that mainstream bows down to these monkeys not because they are a target audience (well maybe for McDonalds they are since it’s cheap, garbage of a meal) but to avoid the blacks from chimping out and crying RACISM like they can do all so well.
